How to determine if your dog is obese!
Weight gain is normal fact of life. The older the dog becomes, the less energy and activity they have, muscle mass begins to lose some of its former tone. An older dog in good health may look physically different from loss of muscle and even look as though they have gained more fat but may not be any heavier according to the scale. An older dog should not be obese because it ages.
Look at your dog! A dog should have a shape. There should be a defining line from shoulders, ribs, waist and back end. From over head, you should see a waist line. From the side, there should be a definite belly tuck.
